Ring Bear(er)

The Ring Bear(er) was commissioned to enclose both an engagement ring and a wedding ring.  The client had a particular affection for bears and so wanted this to be reflected in a unique gift to his fiancée.

The profile is based on one of the first animals I ever designed and made.  The bear is made from a single piece of black walnut cut in two.  The recesses for the rings were then cut into the wood.

The two halves come back together with paired concealed magnets, expressed with contrasting wooden dowels.

The rings themselves are held in felt cushions, with turned rippled sycamore ring surrounds.
