Jewellery Vessel

This was an open commission for a jewellery container to be given as a 40th birthday gift.

 

The finished piece was a lathe turned bowl and lidded vessel, both in sycamore.  The wood is a beautiful pale cream colour with a very close grain and velvety finish.

The shallow bowl can contain necklaces or loose items and has a central well which is hidden by the lidded vessel. 

 

The two elements were designed to work as one, with the curves of the bowl flowing upwards into the vessel, or to live side by side.
